Sarah is the director of the Math department and head Math tutor at LionTutors. She received a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and a Masters in Business Management at the University of Florida. Sarah has been tutoring math for over a decade. She has a true talent, and more importantly, a true passion for teaching. Sarah makes math easy by breaking up each problem step-by-step and using language that students understand. We’ll even go so far as to say, she makes learning math fun… well as fun as math can be anyway!
Kenny DeGiglio is the head tutor for business classes at LionTutors. Kenny studied finance at Penn State where he graduated in 2015 with honors. Kenny has helped countless students through Penn State’s most challenging business classes by breaking down complex concepts into simple strategies that students can use to succeed on exams. He tries his best to keep his reviews entertaining and lighthearted (please laugh at his jokes even though they’re not funny), and he will always go the extra mile to make sure that students get the grade they want!
Emily is our head accounting, statistics, and economics tutor. She is also the LionTutors Director of Operations. She graduated from Penn State’s MAcc program in 2016 with a masters in accounting and a minor in Spanish. Emily has a rare ability to relate statistics, accounting, and economics concepts to students in ways that are easy to understand.
Shai is the head Chemistry, Physics, and Biology tutor at LionTutors. He first began tutoring undergraduate students while majoring in Chemistry at the University of Florida, and has continued to do so for over a decade now. Shai’s interactive teaching style and ability to relate to college students, combined with his love of science (as well as all things sci-fi and fantasy!), has lead to improved grades for thousands of students at Penn State University. Currently, Shai lives in the UK and is flown out to State College each month to give his exam reviews. That’s right, Shai is such an amazing tutor that LionTutors literally flies him in from England to give LionTutors Exam Reviews!
Kristi received her B.S. in Behavioral Sciences with a minor in Human Resource Management from York College of Pennsylvania. She worked in nonprofit management, marketing, and public relations for 14 years while freelancing for local and national businesses as a writer. She received her MAEd in Educational Studies in October 2011 and splits her time between teaching and advocating for children with disabilities and their families. Kristi has also taken additional psychology graduate courses. She appreciates the importance of creating study materials that are easy to understand and interesting to read. She lives in State College with her husband and teenage daughter and enjoys photography, ukuleles, reading, and really old movies. She creates study materials for MGMT 301, MKTG 301, and BA 342. Kristi often provides private tutoring services to PSU undergrads studying business, behavioral sciences, English, and education.
Andrew is one of our ACCTG 211 tutors, and he is majoring in Finance and Political Science. He decided to become an accounting tutor because he has always enjoyed helping students learn a rather difficult subject. Outside of tutoring, Andrew is involved in Alpha Kappa Psi and the Nittany Lion Fund. He likes to spend his free time skiing, playing tennis, and hanging out with friends. After graduation, he is planning on pursuing a career in Investment Banking.
Alyssa is one of our MATH 110 tutors at LionTutors. She is from Pittsburgh, PA! Within Smeal, her major is Finance and her minor is Information Systems Management. She has always had a love for calculus throughout both high school and college. Aside from tutoring and working other jobs, Alyssa is active in numerous organizations including THON Dancer Relations, Smeal Ambassadors, Cooking and Baking Club, and a few more.
Katherine is one of our MATH 021, MATH 022, and MATH 110 tutors. She is from Pittsburgh, PA. She is a member of the Integrated Masters of Accounting Program class of 2023 and is working toward a minor in Music Performance with a focus in Violin. Upon graduation, she plans on becoming a CPA and working for a public accounting firm. She is also involved in the Accounting Society and Women in Business. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and playing the violin!
Cameron is one of our FIN 301 tutors. He is from Marlton, NJ. Cameron studies Finance and Statistics, and he has always had a love for quantitative subjects. Aside from tutoring, Cameron is active in numerous student organizations including serving on the executive boards of the Nittany Lion Consulting Group and Sapphire Leadership Academic Program. He is the Captain of Sapphire THON and is a huge Sixers, Phillies, and Eagles fan.
Tyler is one of our CHEM 110 tutors. He is majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Environmental Engineering. He is from Port Allegany, PA and hopes to one day work in the Alternative Energy and Fuels industry. Tyler became a tutor because of his passion for chemistry and helping people. Ethan is a junior studying chemical engineering with a minor in chemistry. On campus, he is a member of the Schreyer Honors College. Ethan has a passion for learning with the hopes to improve the clean energy industry. Aside from academics, he spends his time working on cars and staying in shape. In his hometown of Erie, PA, Ethan takes pride in working with the youth to train them as amateur boxers.
Matt is one of our MATH140 tutors. He is from Langhorne, PA, located right outside of Philadelphia. He is majoring in Industrial Engineering and hopes to become an Industrial Engineer for the Walt Disney Company. Other than tutoring, Matt enjoys watching the Phillies, going to the gym, and spending time with friends and family. Ashley is one of our Math 140 tutors. She is from Rochester Hills, Michigan. Ashley is majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Engineering Leadership Development, and she is hoping to work in the robotics industry. She became a tutor to help make calculus less stressful for students. Outside of tutoring, Ashley mentors a high school FIRST Robotics Team, and she enjoys running, baking, and spending time with her friends.
Mike is one of the tutors for MATH 141, currently majoring in Materials Science and Engineering through the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. He is from North Wales, Pennsylvania, in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and has been working for LionTutors since his sophomore year in the Fall of 2020. On campus, Mike is currently involved as an intern for the Applied Research Lab, and as a Resident Assistant for the FISE Living Learning Community.
Isabelle is one of our math tutors. She is majoring in Mathematics (Applied option) with a minor in Music Studies. She is from Jefferson, a small town in Maryland. After college, she plans to pursue a PhD in order to fulfill her dream of being a math professor. Tutoring allows her to follow her passion for teaching and helping others understand how to problem solve and gain math confidence. Allison is one of our math tutors. She is majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. She is from Pittsburgh, PA, and she hopes to one day work for a space industry in the designing or computational department. Allison became a tutor because of her passion for math and her ability to help friends with their math classes. She loves sharing her skills with other students! Outside of LionTutors, she is a SWAT envoy, a TA for Engineering Design 100, and involved in a jazz ensemble at school.
Anastasia is one of our MATH 251 tutors, and she is from Long Island, NY. She is a senior majoring in Chemical Engineering. Anastasia plans to advance her career in the consumer products industry. She has been very involved with her THON organization since freshman year. She also enjoys playing tennis, reading, and traveling.
Corrine is one of our Math 251 tutors. She is studying Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Engineering Leadership Development. Corrine is from Pittsburgh, PA. Outside of class and tutoring, Corrine is a fundraising chair for her THON org, Apollo, and she is also involved in various engineering organizations on campus. In her free time, Corrine enjoys listening to music, (trying) to cook, and spending time with friends and family.
